Journey to Marriage
/Sara Feolino grew up experiencing the wounds of divorce firsthand. As a young adult, now engaged and preparing for the vocation of marriage, she realized something essential: “if I can help couples lessen their chance of getting a divorce, then that means I can increase their chances of having a lifelong marriage which is what we are meant for. “
Sara married her husband Raphy after months of intentional, prayerful preparation that included relationship books, financial workshops, and growth in communication and decision-making. They realized wedding planning itself, as “the ultimate teamwork,” can be a great gift of preparation for marriage.
Offering print resources and counseling calls as a supplement to pre-Cana programs, Sara and Raphy felt—and answered—a call to share the fruits of their own premarital preparation with other couples. Journey to Marriage was established in 2019.
From Sara & Raphy:
Preparing couples for marriage is crucial because marriage is a sacrament. It must be protected and its true purpose must be revived in today's society. It's something to be admired, not seen as a contract that holds you back. Marriage is beautiful and full of joy.
A couple's journey to marriage is THE foundation for a lifelong marriage. [We] believe that our relationship with God reflects in our relationship with our spouse.
Future families inspire us to help couples on their journey to marriage. Before a couple gets married they have time to set the foundation, set the tone for their marriage. They can learn how to communicate openly and vulnerably with one another, how to resolve conflict, how to talk about hard topics such as additions or finances, how to fulfill one another's needs and so many other skills. Being equipped with these skills means a lower chance of becoming a broken family. Divorces cause so much hurt. God doesn't want that for His children but He also can't force us to do anything. By having a solid foundation in Christ and learning the skills for one's marriage, they are meeting God halfway.
